As a youth ( 6- 15) is hockey about as good of 800/1500 training as one can get? My kiddo plays hockey and after a game or practice he is soaked is sweat. A shower would dry him up. Hockey players are high aerobic with 20+ min a game and high anaerobic with 30-40 sec shifts. So basically mid d traing but without the pounding on the feet. I'm a decent runner and when I skate with my kiddo my legs are on fire as are my lungs.
The only kid I know that went hockey into track is a 1:51.6 as a jr at altitude.
