The Stone Cutter-Nice week and I agree that running twice with shorter will help you recover while building a base. Slartzio raises a good point in that it looks like summer of malmo and I am with np1112 in that I really have to drag myself through the second run in the evenings which is why I do my harder stuff in the mornings. I definitely dont look at the watch typically on 2nd runs.
Slartzio-Great job on the tempo--I like your strategy of starting out a little slower and finishing strong. Looking great for next weekend, good luck!
Kierran-I'm horrible at pacing myself and have to look multiple times per lap. Definitely a learned skill..still looking strong though heading into your taper.
Lakerunner-Based on the hilly tempo I think a sub 60 is possible. Are you thinking 5:55 pace to start out and then dialing over the final few miles?
xenonscreams-wow, sorry to hear about your iron deficiency. You've definitely had your share of bad luck lately so hopefully this is the final one and you can get back to racing where you want to be.
Bonham-Smart to play it conservative and great to see the progress this week! You have a month to ease back into things while building base.
VF Runner-Big fan of the progression format you used Sunday, will really help you in your marathon to finish strong. What did you decide to do on the bbq before the marathon?
Ghola-sorry to hear about the 5k but still fantastic time and will be nice to get some down weeks. I'm not sure you should ever put the word easy before the word marathon!
Nop200-That is a very hilly course for your Sunday race. regarding the sub 11, nothing you can do now except get rest and trust your training. Your legs have a lot of racing in them so hopefully they'll be some reduced efforts over the next 14 days.
TheGarbageDisposal-Any doubts I had about upping my mileage too quickly were quickly squashed after seeing your post. Wowza. 100+ and then 96 with a day off. Most impressed with that 1500/800 double, I wish I could sniff anywhere near those times at that end of the spectrum of distance.
KBXC-Sorry to hear about the race but otherwise looking great especially that 4x400
Hereford-Agree with you that it's nice to have a constructive, positive thread on this board. Nice week of base building. I am thinking about adding some plyo drills into a routine as well.
Np1112-I take it that your foot is feeling better given the run you did today. Awesome job on that ladder workout...hopefully I can start posting some mile times in the 5:0x's this summer.
reed-I think you are the first steeple runner in this thread:)
bajada master- nothing is worse than traveling while you are sick. Hopefully you are feeling better and able to get back into the swing of things this week
Piano_Man87-Nice week especially the tempo. Just make sure to keep the majority of your miles easy paced and you should have no problem hitting 50. Stay on top of stretching/foam rolling would be my advice
