Just wanting to know if my time is good enough to run at Ut Austin or A&M? I recently ran a 9:15 3200m at a district meet. Is this worthy of getting a full scholarship? Thanks

Tell him Great job!!
While that is very solid, very few if any D1 schools would be giving any money as an incoming Freshman with a 9:15 - 8:45? Yes, for sure
The rule of thumb is: Can this person score in the conference meet as a Freshman? If yes, then money would be available. If not, don't get offended. What you are after is:
1) entry into the school and major of choice
2) a roster spot on the team
3) don't be offended if they call him a "walk-on"
Improvement in college gets the older guys money. with only 12.5 scholarships available and teams having to pay out of state tuition for non-residents and foreign students, very very little money gets paid out.
That is reality. focus on his running getting him into the best school possible that his test scores/GPA/essays will afford. It's always better to go to a program that wants you too. Keep that in mind!
Good luck and drop a 9:05 or 9:00 and they will come!
9:15 gets a scholarship at so so many places. It is ridiculous to say otherwise. Based on a 1:55 I was able to get significant money from a mid-level D1. 9:15 is better and indicates Xc ability.
