My school is sponsored by under armour and I can tell you that their shoes are crap. Every kid on the soccer team tries to get a doctor's note so they can wear either Nike or adidas cleats instead of the UA ones because UA cleats are terrible. Our basketball team goes through shoes on a weekly basis because they are so terrible that they blow out frequently. Our cross country and track team were told by UA that they are exempt from the footwear requirement because UA themselves know how bad their shoes are. Pros wear the cleats because they have a contract, not by choice. Kids where them because UA is a "cool" brand. I can't tell you one athlete at my school that would actually choose to wear UA shoes.
Look around the NCAA at all of the UA sponsored schools and show me one where the cross country and track team actually wears their shoes. Even Notre Dame with their new, big UA contract will be wearing shoes from another company.
Yes, I used where instead of wear once in my post. This is, of course, my stupid mistake but thank you for pointing it out. Regardless, it doesn't change the point of my original post. Under Armour may not make cross country or track racing shoes but they do make "running" shoes. Name an UA school that actually trains in UA shoes and not another brand.
By the way, "YeahUm" is not a word and it is improper to start a sentence with the word "And." Bite me.
That's not actually true, it's just taught by primary school teachers so that students don't get in the habit of it, thus weakening their ability to properly punctuate in their writing. But starting a sentence with "and" is completely acceptable.
P.S. You really should no you're homophones better then that.
Texas Tech is sponsored by UA and they are provided with shoes but nobody likes them. At least not the distance group. Everybody requests Nikes (including Kithuka)
I'd say Nick is doing something right. At the end of the day, as long as a shoe is a respectable weight for a racing flat and isn't particularly uncomfortable it's the engine that makes the difference not the tires.
With how big a company under armour is I am sure they can put together a shoe that meets the above standards.
Congrats Nick.

What school do you go to?
I wore the Under Armour Speedform Apollos at Boston this year. Finished in 2:43 and 2nd in my age group (check my race number 679). At 6.1 oz it allowed me to zip right along for the first 22 miles. My lack of hill training slowed me a bit during the last four but I was still quite satisfied with my time. At age 58 I don't mess around with shoes that don't work.....these work very well.
Fila's designers were bought out by Under Armor a couple years back. Skecher's designers came from Nike Free.
Under Armour is trying to turn spandex shorts into underwear so that people will buy regular shorts to wear over them. For that dirty trick alone, don't ever buy any of their products.
you really seem to know what you're talking about, Bad Wigins. Good stuff.
It also doesn't change the fact that Nick Arciniaga is the third best looking American male distance runner right now behind Abdi and Dean K
I think shoes get taken too seriously.
People were running fast marathons 40 years ago and those shoes couldn't be that great.
It's more psychological. If it feels good and looks good you may run better.
But the mechanics may not be any better.

http://www.believeintherun.com/index.php/2012/12/02/interview-kurt-stockbridge-david-raysee-skechers/Funny how times change, was looking at this old thread, UA now have possibly the best training shoe on the market now (speedform gemini) , a great racer trainer which is very like the old Nike Skylon (speedform apollo 2) and a very competent race flat (slingshot). Only a matter of time before they are a major player.
