rolled my ankle on sunday in a race and ran through it. Think it's only a grade 1 sprain, i can walk on it fine but it hurts a bit to put it full range of motion sideways. it won't damage it if i run through it, will it?

I doubt you are a complete idiot. Of course you are doing wrong by training on it but you are a runner (and must run) and dont want to hear that, so here is the answer you want. I did it myself. I am still alive.
Yes you will be fine. Justy strap some electrical tape around your ankle on the outside of your sock so as not to have to pull it off your skin after the run.
Go get 'em
Run on it. I did the same with some self adhesive bandage/tape. It was fine within two weeks.
Just make sure you don't run on surfaces that might cause it to roll again. Once you do it once it's a lot easier to do again (and worse). My answer would be yes, run. No reason not to. A little pain never hurt anyone, but make sure you don't put yourself in more danger.
I've run with a sprained ankle. Forward motion on level ground didn't hurt it a bit.
Hmmm. I just 'sprained' my right ankle yesterday. Not bad, at most a grade 1 though it hurt like hell yesterday. Today it's quite a bit better. I figgered I was out for at least a week ....
Most sprains you want to run through. When you run, blood gets to the sprained muscle and will stimulate the healing process. It will hurt and you will be limping for a few days to several weeks, but it will take less time until you get back to training than if you took off. You may need to go much slower than even easy pace.
