My 2 coaches wants me to try the 400 hurdles as I have good technique but also good endurance seen from a sprinters point of view and therefore they suggests it would be easier to make the national team in 400 hurdles than the flat 400.
Currently I'm running the 400/800 with 400 pb 49.2s and running same times as the 800 guys I'm running with (1.51-53s) on intervals from 600 and down.
I know I should probably continue with the "endurance work" I'm doing with the 800 group each tuesdays as it is more important to 400 hurdles than the 400 flat . But what about the other 3 quality days thu/sat/sun? Currently I got 4 quality track days a week should I continue with this? My coaches says it is up to me if I want 3 or 4 hard days as I have been injured a lot and they don't wanna put too much pressure on me.
Easy days mon/wed/fri with alternative training rowing or crosstraining but followed up with some drills and plyo or jump series for leg strength.
I have really never tried one single hurdle before do you think I should change event and continue with 4 quality track days a week? And will a transition to 400H be better for the 800 part also?
Don't really now any "great" 400H runner who has hit fast 800s also... Is it a good combination at all and can I be focusing on both events??
Thanks
