The second one, "Training Profiles" that is. Looks like a cool book. Much like the "How They Train" books TFN used to put out through the '80's.
It only costs $12.00. Definately worth it.
i have it, it's more like a magazine then a book, but still pretty cool
The book is great but MAKE SURE you buy it from www.joffroirunning.com so you can support his site, it rules! There was an example page on his site but it's deleted. Joffroi helped the author make the book, so buy it from his site!
Thanks for all that relevant and useful info, Mike. I'll be sure to buy all my gay porn from your gay site.
Interesting that someone should compare it to the "How They Train" books that Track and Field News used to put out. Some of the guys in the new book train like guys from those books inthe early 80s and late 70s. I guess that's why we have so many sub-9:00 guys again.
It's not perfect, because they are asking HS kids about their training, but it is very interesting. The profiles I thought were most revealing were Ritz and McDougal, just off the top. They both train like men and don't f*** around. The other two I found to be illuminating were Marc Davis and Rob Gary. They did f*** around and trained like HS girls. They also seemed to need to defend (even advocate) the approach they took.
I say, if someone asks, put your training down in an honest way and let people do with it what they may. Let them draw their own conclusions. There are a lot of people out there who can run 30-40 mpw and still run sub-9 for 3200m (over the years) or sub-9:30 or sub-10, whatever passes for good in your neighborhood. And there are a lot of people (like myself) who would not have run there best at less than 80 mpw.
I am smart enough to realize that Marc Davis is one of the former, he should realize that most of us are one of the latter.
