This instantly puts him on the short list for Olympic Gold in Rio. Maybe he can do what Haile never did....win an Olympic Medal in the marathon.
this gets trotted out time and again, that track speed will automatically convert into a sensational marathon time. this is rubbish, a track runner has to learn about the marathon and the different stress on the body.
I agree with the other poster, without wanting to sound rude, you don't understand distance running and it doesn't matter what your personal best is. Running a top class marathon is about much more than multiplying your pbs for the track.
Are you serious? You have to take into consideration the following:
1. 1st marathon
2. not flat
3. Hamstring problem
I think that he must participate to Berlin marathon THIS YEAR and go for 2:02:45
