How much does binge drinking really affect your training?

Keep it quiet, it will cause more harm to everyone. Some guys are just into that.
If it's not affecting the amount of training you do, I'd say the biggest downside would be the fact that alcohol is purely empty caloric intake. Beer has carbs, sure, but not very a lot for how many calories you're consuming. When you train at a high level, you're better off consuming those calories in the form of carbs and protein. Otherwise, you're probably not getting enough of those things or you're taking in too many calories.
That said, what's life without some binge drinking (defined, as it is, by having 5 drinks in a sitting, which isn't a tremendous amount)?
