Incorrect. Sara Vaughn didn't have the Qorlds time but it's a moot point as Grunewald wasn't DQd.
So it's official-- no DQ?

looked like a DQ to me. not because she won but it didn't need to happen, at this point there were only two or three runners, open your eyes!
BTY....maybe sprinters should get rid of the lines so more contact is made!.
...in a perfect world there should be no contact, and distance runners know that! So for it to two to three times in once race????... DQ her!
Agreed!
I agree too! we need to file has been protesting more often!!
Well someone got DQ'ed...
DQ Andrew Bumbalough

Nike group protested Gabe's win & was denied, appealed to jury & denied again, now pushing jury to change upheld verdict.
Jury's decision is final unless new info comes to light in the rule book. None has but appears Nike group will prevail anyway. #browbeat
OK, let me see if I have this straight. Coming from an avid T & F fan (Millrose every year, Trials every 4 years, etc…) I even watch what meets are on T.V. standing up. Read EVERYTHING I can get my hands on regarding track (esp. mid-distance on up). And I've never heard one bad word about Gabriele, now henceforth - Gabe. But it turns out EVERYONE, but me, already knew she was "dirty" and this was "her usual race tactics" "pushing, cutting off, tripping" "tramples" "pushed off the track"!, etc… If this is so well known, and she's been doing it for years, why then did the officials not DQ her? And after a protest by Alberto Salazar! Arguably the most powerful player in the sport. And why has she never been DQ'ed in any race before, ever, - if this is her reputation? If everyone knows this about her, then surely the race officials are on high alert, no?? What a bunch of poppycock.
well, the protest filed during the olympic trials is pretty well known. If you google her it's the very first thing to come up . . .

A DQ wouldn't be out of the question. She definitely fouled Hasay...
Not only do you come off like a douche, your also wrong.
Salazar "appealing appeal": http://www.runblogrun.com/2014/02/barker-salazar-files-protest-against-grunewald-by-jon-gugala.html
Almost any coach under similar circumstances would file a protest...this is part of your job as a coach. I agree, the best runner won and perhaps the contact did not affect the outcome, but Grunewald committed a violation and even if nothing comes of it, filing a protest is the proper thing to do.
How much is Nike offering??
Sorry for the confusion. My statement "we all know she initiates contact" refers to the women in the pack that she races and competes against. So unless you are one of the people who actually stands on the line and races around the track with her, then you are not part of "we". Today's race is not an isolated experience, it is a pattern and sometimes it is more obvious to spectators than other times that she plays rough, and uses unsportsmanlike antics. When it is a big pack it is hard to see the movement but she still tries to run through people in a pack and push her way to where she wants to be.

So Grunewald is not going to DQorlds?
A coach should stand up for their athlete whenever possible. More than a few medals have been earned at the scorers table.
It's just sucky that this time it is Salazar.

Your mom races dirty. Wink. Wink.
Below is absolutely true. She has a reputation of being a dirty racer - you can ask any middle distance runner - and it's about time she gets called out for it.

Running is meant to be a no-contact sport. That's just the way it is. We run races to see who comes out fastest. Not to see who comes out fastest after multiple people have been stepped on, shoved, pushed off the track, etc. If you want to see people pounding each other, tune into MMA or something.
You want no contact run in separate lanes the entire race.
