Colorado distance runner alums would rank very high:
Men--all still competing at the national level in 2004
1. Alan Culpepper
2. Steve Slattery
3. Clint Wells
4. Scott Larson
5. Adam Goucher
6. Shawn Found
7. Dathan Ritzenhein
8. Jorge Torres
9. Eduardo Torres
Women
1. Shayne Culpepper
2. Carrie Messner
3. Molly Austin (Philly Half this weekend)
4. Kara Goucher
Agreed. CU would crush people.
You have to count runners that have actually graduated and have a degree from the University. When they do graduate then yeah will probably be the best alum team, who knows Ritz might not ever graduate.
What about the University of Oregon or even the University of Florida? If you were talking about the best group of runners from a club then the Florida Track Club wins hands down!
How about UW-Oshkosh, the 4 time D3 CC champs. Their Reil Electric Track Club has some accomplished runners and they are great guys. 20 years of alumni are members.
Yep. Not sure if he's still running after the trials disappointment.

Didnt McMullen go to Eastern Michigan as well?
Wisconsin has Matt Downin (7th at the trials in the 10k), Jared Cordes (finals in the steeple at the trials), Isaiah Festa (4th at the trials in the steeple), Henry Dennis (5k road champ last year), and Pascal Dobert (former Olympian currently making a comeback). That's a solid top five.
How about on a smaller scale the Central Missouri State University Alumni? They have 5-8 guys each year that compete well and give the Mules a run for their money. Mules Track Club in the house!
Definitely Bucknell University.
What about Washington State, lots of foreigners, but for XC
Henry Rono 7:32 3k, 8:05 SC, 13:06 5k, 27:22 10k
Kimombwa 7:47 3k, 13:21 5k, 27:31 10k
Cheriuyot 7:53, 13:34, 27:50
Koech 7:39, 13:09, 28:07
Lagat
Lindgren
In fact Lagat is actually 10th on the wsu top 10 5k list at13:36, and 10th on the 10k list is dan murphy at 28:33.
Alot of foreigners, but thats a tough top 10 list to make no matter how much they where cheating or whatever
Baylor anyone? Wariner MJ....hard to top.
What about Cal?
8,15,16 at marathon trials (sans Eddy)
Bolota 3rd at trials 5k
Boulet, although retired from the big time, is on his way to winning every marathon held in California.
Cal alums all over adidas transports, the best club team in America.
Don't think we're as good as CU, but I know we'd beat Stanford.
And the highest any of us placed as a xc team in college was 6th at pac 10s.
How bout Indiana?
Spivey-3:48 mile 13:15 5000
Kennedy-7:30 3000 12:58 5000
Brahm-3:54 mile 13:25 5000
Charles Marsala 3:37 1500
Mark Deady 3:53 mile 3:35 1500?
And didn't this guy run for Indiana-Marius Bakken-13:07 5000?
If you're talking the program with the most guys who went on to world class you have to go with Oregon, Arkansas, Villanova, and UTEP.
However times have changed and the vast majority of world class runners never even go to college. The guys under 13:00.
Look at DIII - UW-Stevens Poin wrote:
Not to shabby for a DIII school!
* Chad Johnson - still runs pretty fast
* Jason Ryf - Olympic Trials, marathon (20th ??)
* Mark Manz - Olympic Trials, marathon
* Wendi Ray(zak) - Womens Oly. Trials Marathon
* Eric Parker - Won Drake relays masters 800m 2004
* Arnie Schrader - near 40 now - still wins just about every race he enters locally
Tiny Stevens Point was home to other major runners also:
* Chris Solinsky - FootLocker champ - NCAA all american
* Curt Clausen - 3 olympics - race walking
* Suzy Favor - ???
Stevens Point, WI - The biggest little running town in the USA!
Suzy Favor did not go to Stevens Point. She went to UW-Madison. Nice try. That is like saying she uses Head and Shoulders when we all know she prefers Pert Plus to wash that stunning blonde hair.
Providence College Women:
'04 Times
Amy Rudolph 4:07, 15:00
Marie Davenport 15:09, 31:28
Maria McCambridge 15:05
Sarah Dupre 32:50
Roisin McGettigan 9:45 steeple
Sinead Evans 4:11

She went to Stevens Point Area High School, or SPASH as it's called.
Add Liz Sobolik to Colorado roster--she qualified for the 2004 OT Marathon in 2:47.55. As for Washington State, I believe Henry Rono is retired and this thread is about more current runners.
What's up with the BYU women?
Adams State might be in there..

ahhhh, so she went to SPASH
this girl who bears a strange resemblance to the actress in SPLASH
this girl whose failures in the olympics have repeatedly turned my heart to ASH
this girl may want to try another event like the 100 meter DASH
then again, now that I read this rhyme again, me thinks my thoughts are all TRASH
and honestly enough, I have never smoked HASH
So now I am out of here just like Mr. Gordon with the first name FLASH

It's good to hear that Dobert is making a comeback. That guy was a stud.
