Ran the 10K at the Sacramento Run to Feed the Hungry. Great event.
Thought I was in low 30shape (30:45 pr from this year), but just moved to altitude and have only done strength stuff. In retrospect, I'm not. Anyways, said f$%& it, and pushed the pace, unaware I was pushing the pace on Max King.
That did not go well.
Legs locked up like crazy and struggled to survive/move (just under 33 I think), and he just loped along to an easy victory. Nice guy though!
Also was at Sac Run to Feed the Hungry. Great event as always. Huge field, great supportive streetside crowds and bands. Beautiful course. Everything very well organized. Perfect weather as is usually the case. Mild and sunny.
I haven't run a step in 12 months. Easily 30 lbs overweight compared to my college PR days. Like you, said f$%& it and pushed the pace as best I could. Survived and broke 20 min in the 5k!! Woohoo! But wow, being a lardarse sucks. Still a great event and just being out there reminded me of the glory days.
