Was your dog sufficiently trained for this type of effort, or should I speed dial PETA?

Ran a great turkey trot in oyster bay Long Island. Very nice course through the town and on the water. Finish right at the high school. Second year of it and already 1100 people. 100$ Tedder Roosevelt contest and 100$ best turkey costume. Lady won going as a cooked turkey. Stephen Sambu won in 14:03 on a windy day. Very impressive. Race also donated to his charity to get clean water home in Kenya. Great all around.

I wasn't going to dare post my time as I am embarrassed by my current fitness but whatever. I ran 19:15. 6:03, 12:22, then a really fast pride kick to beat out the first or second woman and some older guy. Was pretty cold. Goal next spring is 15:xx (wasn't terribly far off that in Spring 2012).

Weaving? Were you passing hobbyjoggers who sprinted and died before the first mile mark, and were gasping out of breath, just minutes into the 10k? That has happened to me on a lot of races. Some Turkey Trotters have no clue how long a 10k run is.

I'm fat - 20 pounds over racing weight. Ran about 3 minutes over my PR on my high school's alumni 5K course. Depression sucks. Poor Thanksgiving to be thankful.

Course marshal pointing the wrong way means the top 1/3 of racers didn't end up with 5k. I ended up somewhat-accidentally cheating and finished about a minute and a half back of where I think I would have, but about ten places ahead of where I would have, if the course had gone the right way.

ran an easy 18:30 to win by a minute.

More importantly I won a turkey and $50 cash. I did not know the race even had a first place prize. Good day ;)

In other related news I had a dream last night that I killed an ugly midget lady because she was trying to sell me a hamburger for $11. I refused to pay that price and she insisted that I had to buy it since she made it. After using my omnipresent dream mind to detect that she was now going to try to ruin my life because of the hamburger incident, I killed her.

wejo - for a once-fast runner, why are you running so slow? If you run 20 miles a week you should be able to run much faster. Did you become a slogger?

Dominated my age group at the Fort Worth Turkey Trot. Sadly the best local competition was a guy with a dog who got 2nd AG.

In Detroit there was a crazy slick slippery layer of snow which caused us all to be slipping and sliding all over the place at every turn. About half way in the 5k lead pack ran into the 10k walkers and it became a huge mess really quickly. We were getting cut off, yelled at and jeered at by the upset 10kers.

Despite being out of shape, i found myself right next to a hansons runner with 400m out and i went all try hard on him and out kicked him as hard as i could despite the fact that he was obviously more concerned that he was going to slip then actually trying to race.

Ran the 10K at the Sacramento Run to Feed the Hungry. Great event.

Thought I was in low 30shape (30:45 pr from this year), but just moved to altitude and have only done strength stuff. In retrospect, I'm not. Anyways, said f$%& it, and pushed the pace, unaware I was pushing the pace on Max King.

That did not go well.

Legs locked up like crazy and struggled to survive/move (just under 33 I think), and he just loped along to an easy victory. Nice guy though!

No I am saying I ran much faster off low mileage. I have not ever mentioned my times off higher mileage.

Haven't trained in two weeks since cross country ended, but I did the Montauk (NY) Turkey Trot with my brother. He won the 3 mile race in 16:46 (he's still been training) and I was 4th in the 6 mile race with a 38:09. I did win my age group though so I'm happy about that that.

Weather was nice but quite cold and incredibly windy - pretty sure the temperature was 33 with 35 mph winds with gusts up to 50. Not fun and it definitely took a toll on me in the second loop of the 6 mile.

The course was pretty simple, pretty much a big square on the roads around a pond. The first 1.5 miles was mad flat but offered no protection from the winds, and then the second 1.5 had long steep rolling hills with practically no wind at all. The course was fun and picturesque though.

Montauk is beautiful and has a nice feel too it btw. Perfect vacation spot.

I was disappointed with my time today, ive gone 17:30 in a 5k and lately I had been putting lots of mile 6:50-7 minute pace, with no speed work.

today at the dallas ymca turkey trot I hit the first mile in 5:31 second in 6:06 third in 6:11 :-/finished in 18:44.

was sick and in the last 2 weeks including today I ran twice, giving me 50 miles for the month

ran the 10k North Shore Turkey Trot in Highland Park, IL. 1st "road race" in years, 42:14, then discovered the course was 4 blocks long as they sent us on a section that was meant for the 5k runners only. Good weather, 20s and a little wind. Good to be back racing.

33:47 (goal was 35-40)
