My wife was excited that our dog was the first dog last year so this year she wanted him to win again even though I was moving up from the 5k to the 10k.
This year I paid the extra $3 to be chip timed. That created a problem as last year I just ran on the open side of the street with the dog at the start. This year I had to go across the mat, weaving through people with the dog.
6:36 1st mile with a lot of weaving
Mile two I have to stop and tie my shoe 6:18
Mile 3 610 no problems
Mile 4 my dog takes me out on a turn. My fault but I hit the pavement. 6:17
Mile 5 604 no problems
Mile 6 551 no problems
3827 total.
Felt better at end which is surprising as I figured I was settling in to a slower pace(I didn't look at my watch until the end)
