I'm 47 and ran a 5k in 20 minutes after 8 weeks training fom zero. I only run for 10 minutes 4 days a week to avoid injury. What times might I reasonably expect ?

That actually indicates a lot of talent.
I'd advise getting the runs up to 30-45 minutes, and doing speed work once or twice a week. Nothing major, just like 10 x 400 at 5k pace with 2 min rest and 6 x 800 at threshold pace. Do that and run 6 days a week, and you'll probably break 18 minutes if you stay healthy. Good luck!
Thanks for that. I did run 16m 30 when I was 18 from football training but quit when injuring my ankle. Didn't go running again until now ! I do cycle in the summer though
nice job on the 1630 back then!
