Forgive me for my ignorance but i don't understand this. Tempos are used to raise your lactate threshold thus giving you the ability to run faster paces without going anaerobic, correct? So why are tempos important to 800/1500 guys? I thought that tempos would primarily be beneficial to 5k runners and up. My line of thinking is that it is nearly impossible to run low 4's in the mile purely aerobic... but i'm sure i'm missing something here because i know that most Mid-D guys run tempos including elites such as Nick Symmond and Matt Centrowitz.
Please enlighten me LRC
