I'm a college freshman who has been suffering from ITBS for 7 weeks now. I foam roll several times a day, do strengthening exercises 2xday, to include clamshells, several variations, side steps, leg lifts, band exercises, fire hydrants, bridges, mule kicks etc. I have had some improvement from the initial onset but everytime I run I get pain. I currently see a physical therapist who has me run on the treadmill when I go to him before he has me start my exercises, other than that I'm not running. Just riding an eliptical and stationary bike for cardio.
I've had massages, A.R.T and seen a ortho (who has told me it's ITBS although there is nothing on the MRI that she can see other than a possible slight strain in a muscle under the IT (not sure what this is). I finally decided to try dry needling on Thurs. I tried to run today (as told by my PT who did it) and it actually hurt worse.
I am getting so frustrated with this injury and I just want to RUN. Does anyone have any suggestions for things that may help to kick it. I read that some people suffer from this for a long time and I'm starting to think this may be me. It goes away until I try to run and then comes right back.
