Running stretches out the exact muscles and range of motion needed for running. To ensure good range of motion, run strides at or below race pace or do them uphill to over-compensate.
All other drills may stretch muscles used for running, but isolated in the wrong proportions, which is why they are a waste of time, and more importantly, a waste of energy.
