Others have given good advice.
If you really want to go after it, you should. At 22 you have many years to still improve, so don't limit yourself mentally. Aim high.
If you really want to train, go find a group and give it your all and work to make ends meet, career can wait and you can get back into that later. I'd suggest do what you can to prioritize running if you want to give it a serious effort. What ifs later in life are tough, your body is only young once.
So here is what I can throw out there in terms of what to think about for work, if you're really thinking about that:
- Teaching can work well (you get to stand and not sit all the time and you get summer off if you teach HS)
- Coaching is generally not good because often your kids racing schedule will conflict with yours
- Jobs with a lot of mental stress (engineering/sciences) will take a little away, you only have so much mental energy to use each day and that will affect your training
- Any job you take avoid a commute like the plague (nothing will sap your energy like commuting). If you're stuck with a commute, but within 3-4 miles you can run to and from work. get a locker and store clothes and food there so you don't have to carry anything more than ID and keys.
finally:
- Get a coach and train with others as much as you can, doesn't need to be every day, but at least 2x/week
- remember that it's fun
Good luck

Physical therapist.
My job is low stress, no work to bring home, regular hours, no on-call.
Only thing is it is another 3 years post bachelors for the DPT, which allowed for some running, but it was difficult to train seriously in the city in which my school was located.
I've run a 1:13 half since. Unfortunately I ran 1:09 prior to PT school. I will get back to that level.
You just have to love running and competing. As someone else stated, I can't go out for drinks on weekday, I don't play rec kickball with my co-workers, etc. From a job perspective, my direct supervisor was a sub 14 5k guy, so that helps with scheduling flexibility.
