As I understand it, Mo was a 1500 runner in his younger years, running in the vicinity of 3:32. A while later, after joining the NOP, Salazar tweaks his form (which I will argue was not terribly efficient, and still could stand some tweaking)... Mo starts training specifically for the 10k... then he runs 3:28.
As a 1500m runner taking a lesson from Mo, should I assume that form-tweaking, 10k-type endurance training, or NOP hocus-pocus is what will bring me to next level? There is a narrative out there (which I don't necessarily buy into) that says 10k training kills speed. Of course, the hocus-pocus NOP stuff is not at the disposable of mere mortals such as myself (or at least, not in its entirety).
I will save someone the trouble of answering "all the above." I am wondering what put Mo over for a 3:28. Certainly, it was one thing more than another. Any knowledgeable folks out there care to make a comment?
