Not everyone who doesn't want to run in buns has body image issues number one. And number two, typically the body image issues are a result of pressure on women to wear less than they otherwise would, which is exacerbated, not alleviated, by a bun mandate. Confidence must come from within, and any confidence that comes as a result of seeking validation on body size from a bunch of guys is fake. Number three if you do in fact read the thread there are also comments from guys suggesting that "only smoking hot thin young girls" should wear them, and "age 13 to 22, 5'6" and 100 lbs or proportionate to that size." In fact, there have been several photos posted specifically to show which girls should *not* be waring buns.
Although what guys think of my body should be irrelevant to my race day attire choices, the guys commenting are clearly commenting about the "hot" girls, not your run-of-the-mill 5'6" 140-lb D3 college athlete. So I don't buy your argument that girls "with body image issues" should feel good about wearing buns because guys like to see thin pretty girls in their underwear. Non sequitur, I think.
That's like saying, for example, guys say Jessica Alba looks hot with her hair in a ponytail so even if you think you look bad with your hair in a ponytail, guys say it's hot so you should be okay with it. No, guys say *Jessica Alba* is hot, not us mere mortals. There's a difference :) Guys like to see Emma Coburn in buns, but most high school girls and college women do not look like Emma Coburn!
