Are bun huggers dead? It seems they are virtually gone on the high school level. They are fading away from D3 and D2 colleges. What is fueling this trend?

It's because those buns are becoming loaves.
My high school team still wears them. Some parents complain but all the girls love how they fit.
Running Skirts have replaced them......no wait.

I hope not. That is the only reason I go to HS track and XC meets.
Women are emotional beings unlike men. Studies show performance is better for girls who wear bun huggers. The reason, oddly enough is that women and girls feel better when they look more attractive in public.

But why would they think they look attractive in them? They most often just look awful. While there are some exceptions, there are so many ways they can go wrong (tan line issues, wierd saginess, make the thighs look larger than they are, etc)
The tight shorts such as Molly Huddle wears are much more flattering.

I respectfully disagree. I think all female athletes look best in bun huggers.
Ugh that amateur pic sucks. Wasn't Getty Images at that meeting ?
Molly looks soooo bundled up and constrained in those shorts.
How can she run like that.
Bun hungers should be required for women.
I saw 5 guys in bunhuggers cheering on their team at the Ohio State XC meet Saturday.

A Sports Psychologist told us years ago that with NCAA indoor arena sports such as basketball and volleyball, the women score more points when they are on the same side as the Frat Boys and Band. The points are lower when they are on the opposite side.
For men's teams it's statistically equal on either side. I.E. men don't care where the Band and Frat Boys are. The NCAA knows this which is why the Frat Boys and Band cannot switch sides, an NCAA Rule. Only the cheerleaders can switch sides.
So you see, women are different than men. Women who look great in bunhuggers can notice the appreciation from the fans and perform much better as a result.
I agree with this. There is a very, very narrow window of women who can pull off the bun hugger look. The tight shorts do more women justice.
What are bun huggers? Are they the same as bikini bottoms?
Obviously the specific choice for shorts should be an individual decision by each student-athlete in individual sports such as NCAA XC/T&F, and a student-athlete only vote in the case of NCAA team sports.
I hope so. They look ridiculous.
