I put it inside my Camelback.
I do. I’m a type 1 diabetic and it reads my CGM. I don’t like carrying it though.
No phone for me. Used to bring it to listen to music, but I also ditched the music. Like others have alluded to, I like "shutting down" my mind from everything else while running. Feel more mentally refreshed at the end of a run without music and phone, than one with it.
It is definitely used to have in case of an emergency. People listen to music when they run... L post
I sometimes map out runs through neighborhoods I don't know (like to keep track of city progess in CityStrides app). When I'm doing that I carry a phone for the turn-by-turn directions. And the phone is carried in my hand. I'd say I do that maybe once a week at most.
No need for phones since everything you need is on watches now. GPS, stopwatch, maps, music, calls, camera, etc.
i do because my music is on my phone and my apple watch needs to be close to my phone to work
As a coach I will sometimes carry my phone if I'm taking pictures of the runners in a workout or I need directions somewhere. Otherwise I basically never have my phone.
garmin forerunner 245 with music which allows you to hear music from watch and receive phone and messenger messages.
Never. If sh1t happens, it happens. Work can wait, emergencies can wait. I enjoy the disconnect.
I carry one now (I have a second, very small cell phone just for this purpose). I have it set to broadcast my location to my sig other, so that he can see where I am when I am running by myself. That way, if I don't return from a run when scheduled, he should be able to see where I am, or at least where I was at some point in the past.
It is also nice to have the option to call for a ride if I happen to take a bad step and roll an ankle or something. I'm running in urban/suburban areas that are well trafficked. But even then, it might be 1-2 miles to the nearest bus stop/subway stop. And I'd also prefer to call for help on my own rather than rely on someone to call on my behalf.
Just my smartwatch and ear pods. Tracks all my stats and holds my music.
I prefer the phone, strapped to the palm of my hand so I don’t need to think about it but can Strava live track and use Siri to change music
