Anyone else been told stupid crap like this before in the past? Other "theories" people make up to justify their lack of athletics?
Literally that dude told me doing 7 miles a day is awful your body and heart *facepalm*. I hate know-it-alls.

Amazing.
So tempting to feign interest and ask them what superior health tips they have implemented in their own life.
Did you bother to ask why him it is bad for your body and heart instead of instantly dismissing him?
I was asked, in response to my 80 mile weeks, - "do you get joint problems?"

Let me guess - because it will be harder to get RIPPED and SHREDDED?
This is typical for an insecure fatty.
You should have asked him if he thinks being an overweight, lazy slob is good for his health.
I don't hold back when people make stupid comments. I take them as a personal attack and go on the offense.

Can depend on the person. My brother was extremely fit and athletic, however, that didn't prevent him from having a heart attack and dying while running.
This isn't a completely crazy thing to say. Your heart is a muscle and scars like other muscles. Pushing anything too far is going to do you more harm than good. But 7 miles-- you'll be fine. You should have told him "yea, and playing video games occasionally is good for your hand-eye-coordination. Sitting on the couch 15 hours a day, eating cheetos and playing video games, however, offsets those benefits."
Running over 30 miles per week mixed with intense speedwork is not optimal for health. We understand that as runners and accept the risk because we'd rather die from it than live without it.
That should be your answer.

Nice.
unhealthy < healthy < badass
Don't worry, OP. They'll secretly be jealous of you when you show up in your '98 Toyota Camry, your pale chicken legs sticking out of your short-shorts, win the local Harvest 5k in 16:3X and have a bunch of hot chicks asking for your autograph.

This is how I look at it. I'm not trying to stay healthy by running. I just enjoy it. It's a way of life.

No, I don't have a joint problem. I love smoking them.
I tell them that there are new, scientific studies that show running is good for knees. It garners a "Really?" To which I reply, "Yep."
/debate
I leave out the issue of tendon, ligament, and joint damage while getting to a weight and fitness-level where the knee joints are no longer damaged from poor running form related to being overweight and the requisite muscle, tendon, and ligament weakness.
Hey, their fatties and are obviously morons so skirting the truth is fair because they obviously don't spend their time thinking critically.
You should have said, "Thanks for sharing, but I don't take health advice from someone so fat that he hasn't seen his penis since the Clinton administration.

Not cool, we know who you are pretending to be. Pathetic.
the proper response would have been
"great advice coming from such a healthy and good looking and person such as yourself"
god i hate fat people.
Was told once by an educated person that oxygen kills you.
No sh*t, their statement to me was "You know all that running is bad because of too much oxygen in your system".
I had to do my best to stay polite and not laugh.

Reeducate him.
