Seattle,
All the Honda and government pension crap is just harassing this guy who always trolls me. I was a government employee throughout my coaching years always working for state institutions, but selected 403B option at hire, not the pension. I do think government pensions are over the top, and creates a block of government sycophants. It is nearly impossible to fire a poor government employee, and the forever indebted to the system. States like Illinois, California, and New York are burdened by excessive bloated pension liabilities.
My personal automobile purchases, all new: 1972 Datsun 510 Station Wagon, 1981 VW Diesel Pick-up Truck, 1999 Ford Ranger Pick-up Truck, and 2016 Porsche Cayman Base model. My wife came into our marriage with a 1969 VW Squareback, later a 1983 Renault Alliance, 1990 Toyota Camry, and 2002 Honda Acura TL-S. I rebuilt the engines on both the VW Truck and Renault Alliance, all on my own. The daughter and son drove the Toyota when they were at college at Boise State. Son took the Ford pick-up when he went to graduate school at Georgia Tech, and I gave it to him when he returned. Sold the Toyota when my daughter went to graduate school at University of Washington. I drove a 2001 Buick La Sabre that we inherited from the time of my father-in-laws death in 2010 until the Porsche purchase in 2016. The Buick was running into regular costly repairs. I intended to purchase a late model Mercedes from a friend at a modest price, but my wife insisted I get what I wanted. I was looking at pre-owned Porsches, but two factors came into play. Not a huge difference in price, and financing is considerably cheaper on new versus pre-owned. My wife still drives the Acura and is out with our daughter as I type. This evening we are celebrating our daughter’s birthday and her attaining law partner.
Now in regards to the other, the only issue I have on government support is not blindly just passing out money. It creates bad habits, and does not teach people responsibility. If you are to do a blanket wipe clean of student debt it is like the stimulus checks, a lot of money going to people who don’t need it, or it is squandered. I believe in more money going to education, but often see the end result of administrative bloat, climbing walls, and unhinged athletic spending. Better directed to community colleges, which I attended for my first two years. Same thing with jobless benefits. We say in the spring and summer businesses were having problem with some employees because they were not going back to work since they made more money on the dole. Maybe you aren’t aware of this, or think it is.
I actually like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. Prefer them in Biden’s cabinet than Janet Yellen, a shill for banking and corporate interests. Anarchists tearing down historical statues is some statement of woke insanity. Or the Seattle Capitol Hill exclusion zone nonsense. Socialism on its purest form has never delivered for the people. I believe you are a far bigger supporter of the ills of capitalism than I.
Ran my longest run in years at 10.25 mikes this morning. If I can keep it up, I would like to race a half marathon this spring.
Hope you are well.
