Alysia comes off very uhhh "uneducated", in her responses. Cicirunner wasn't overwhelmingly hurtful or anything...just lost a lot of respect for Montano.

To the person that said I can't touch my 4:39 from high school, you are so wrong! I ran my sub 10 a few months ago and 16:02 like 2 weeks ago. Why don't you consult Athlinks before you make judgements?
I made a video about this incident. Basically, I didn't realize she was tagged in my original tweet response to Flotrack. After that, I only responded to her directly if she addressed me. If I sent a tweet to one of her fans hating on me, I took her name out of the tweet.
If you're going to have a Twitter, you can't be that close-minded and offended by public opinion. If so, you shouldn't be on a social media site. I really didn't say anything out of the norm. If you saw the race, you were also thinking, "What is she doing?"

Cicirunner is correct. Professional athletes have to learn to take criticism. And the answer: "Let's see if you could do it" does not work. If you want advertisers money, you have to put yourself out there and realize that people are interested (and often critical) of what you do.
I'm sure Peyton Manning realizes that he cannot say to Chris Berman, "Let's see if you can do better and not throw an interception".
Alyssa gets paid to run because people are interested. With this comes criticism. She has to learn to take the good with the bad.
What do you mean he died? He was going for a 9:59 and he ran a 9:57, seems like good execution to me. He settled down nicely after that first lap. Mile splits were 4:55 and 5:02.
He basically ran alone too. The people on this forum are making judgements and engaging in psycho babble that is worse than the actual twitter dispute that took place.

...All of the Cal - moron comments are uncalled for. Criticizing her race might not be.
Actually, no. They were precipitated by this:
"She went to Cal. She's smart."
Clearly someone believes that going to Cal proves one to be smart. Clearly that is a false statement and should rightfully be called out.
She just should have ignored him. She's the most consistent US woman at 800m the last few years, knows her capabilities, and doesn't need to defend how she runs.

The inability to match a pro runner's talent and performances doesn't preclude one from critically analyzing pro runners. Without such general interest, they would have no paychecks.
I would like to apologize to Alysia for this incident. Okay I admit that I'm wrong and she was right. End/thread
Cicirunner, there is nothing for you to apologize for, as you were correct.
I was wrong, but it is too late for me to apply your advice, so I'm just going to do stupid stunts from now on, like competing while pregnant, and crying while taking forever to crawl the homestretch.

Sounds good to me.
