There are handful of posters on this thread providing good information. The rest are guessing how fast they are going, or they see "25 mph" during a ride and obviously are going 25mph for the entire ride. Much like having a long run of 20 miles, which turns into running 20 miles a day.
"According to "Bicycling Magazine," the average Tour de France rider maintains an average speed of 25 to 28 mph on flats."
Average TDF rider: Pro cyclist, drugged up as much as possible, riding in a pack of other pro cyclists averages 25 - 28mph ... on the flats.
Clearly letsrun is full of pro cyclists, and "reasonably fit people ... who can climb Mt Everest"
