There is no one on the radar right now to even come close to the 10000m WR. That record is going to be very hard indeed to approach.
I actually thought about this a lot today. I'll start off by stating that the 10000m world record has been held by the Ethiopians since 1998.
I think that this particular world record is out of reach for almost every ethnicity except someone who is either Ethiopian or Kenyan. The Ethiopians specifically possess some of the natural abilities enabling them to continuously grind at that type of pace. The WR, 26:17.53, is back-to-back sub-13:10s which Mo Farah can struggle to do just one on a given day. Farah is a guy who can run 13/27-minute pace and kick like none other which is most optimal for championship racing. He will win world championships and gold medals with that ability. But he will not out grind the very best of Ethiopia when they try for world record pace. In the 23rd and 24th laps, Farah's kick would be depleted at sub-13:10 pace and would not be able to hold it. Going 13:15-13:00 would be Farah's only way to do it and I just don't see that happening.
