My wife and I often take advantage of weekend rates in businessmen's hotels for planned or spontaneous getaways. Great deals, and fun for all the reasons everyone else is talking about on this thread.
Love it. The Hampton are great hotels, nice beds, nice bathrooms, good breakfast, not too expensive. Love the hotel experience in general.
I used to travel every couple months for my job, then moved cities and jobs and haven't traveled since (over a year now!). I miss it. I agree on The Hampton Inn being pretty great for a medium budget hotel. It was nice having that space, agree with everyone on delicious breakfasts after going for a run.

I just get up early enough to hog the hotel's treadmill.

I am in a hotel 4 nights a week (consultant) and after only a year of it, am absolutely sick of them. They were fun for a few months but its gets old after awhile. Many of the areas I stay make it hard to find a decent area to run and the overall shittyness of treadmills gets old. Just my 2 cents
Sounds terrible.
I'm probably in a hotel 2 or 3 nights a month, and it's generally enjoyable. The key is whether my travel schedule is rushed. What I hate is if I'm flying someplace in the morning, doing a meeting in the afternoon, followed by a work dinner, and I only check in at around 9pm, and I have to get back to the airport by 6am the next morning.
Fortunately it's usually not hard for me to work remotely, so I try to have a more relaxed itinerary and just get some work done in the hotel.
I hate travel in general and hotels specifically. But as has been mentioned already, hotels = sex. So that's fun.

a nice hotel room gets a woman to feel like she'll do anything. Its clean, safe, quiet. if you don't want to deal w/ the outside world, you dont have to....
If you ever want to break that habit, take a black light with you next time.

I'm not even talking about high-end places. I love staying in mid-range chains in really generic places. Eating dinner at the hotel bar by myself, hanging out and people watching after with a few beers ...I'm not even kidding. I'm at home right now and fantasizing about being in at the Cleveland or Spokane Airport Marriott. Anyone else feel the same way?

Do you carry a black light with you everywhere? Do you stay locked in a sterilized room soaking in rubbing alcohol?
I'm at the Radisson tonight. Yeahhhhhhh whiskey and HBO!
ok if i am to confirm my love of hotels or not, are we talking staying at a hotel with or without our family...?
I'm a diamond member at Hilton and Platinum at Marriott as I travel 180 days a year ... Unquestionably, the best hotel is the Embassy Suites by Hilton. Free full service breakfast with made to order omelettes, and the managers special FREE open bar EVERY day from 5-7pm. If you're not staying at Embassy Suites, you're doing it wrong!
as a college guy without cable the thing I like about hotels is all the channels. I love turning in early after getting a good day of running and just watching tv for hours
oh yes! sleeping on other people's semen is amazing!
bed bugs too!
Canadian hotels are even better!
I usually enjoy it. I don't do the hotel bar thing, but I enjoy traveling for work and laying in a hotel bed flipping through the TV channels until well after midnight. We don't have cable/satellite TV at home, so sometimes just getting away for a few days and flipping through the channels can be fun.
A Canadian hotel bed is better than no bed in 3 years! post nuptial shut off only happened because u never showed up. Why should I put myself through that torture? You have no good reason. Truth is you are scared. If you haven't shown up now, you probably never will. Even though it hurts, I am pushing myself to move on because you aren't here!
I like it. Actually the problem I have is that they are too nice and too expensive for what I often want. A lot of times I just want a simple bed and quiet time to get some sleep and nothing else. If there are 8 other people in the room sharing the cost that is fine by me.
Embassy Suites breakfast is the best
