I mean, the FBI wouldn't be able to identify them, right? Then what?

I figured they never dreamed they'd be caught, otherwise they would have made some kind of attempt to hide or disguise their faces. Especially the one still alive. You could see what he looked like plain as day once those pictures were on the internet.
He tried to disguise himself as a boat, but it was too late.
If they disguised themselves they might not have been able to pull off the attack. Ski masks would be suspicious, after all.
i dont think its that hard to buy a good silicone mask..

I'm sure there's better this these out there as well
Yes I think they would have. Would have taken longer. Probably would have set off more bombs.
[b} Of course they would have been caught
How many freekin Russian Islamisnts do you think are on watch lists in the Greater Boston area? Not many!
The FBI has interviewed these f'ing guys and viewed the web sights they visited. They would have been prime suspects by any competent police force.
IMO they would have been caught within a week. They are stupid and probably have bomb making crap all over their apt.

Other than identifying these two, what would have made them think that Russian Islamists were involved?
Russian Islamists were involved?

You would check out all your "watch list" guys. This didn't have the feel of Arab foreigners it was more like domestic resident aliens who had some sort of grudge.
Because many Caucus fighters are useful guns-for hire, Al-Qaeda is looking for a non-Arabic force who can bring other assets to the table (like European looks).
When a guy leaves his dependents behind in Ma for 6 months and heads for areas Russian Itel finds very militant, you had better pay attention to his activities when he returns to Boston or any place else.

I thought the same thing. They might have been picked out in the crowd for dropping off the backpacks, but no way to tell who they were. Even their own friends didn't suspect them after the FBI posted pics, especially the younger one, the one with no larynx now.
Am I the only oldtimer who thinks of the newspaper comic strip Dondi when looking at a picture of the younger suspect?
They were disguised as human beings.
Yes, but it would have taken a lot longer. And they certainly would've been emboldened to do something even bigger the next time. Their greatest asset in getting away with it is the idealogy of the liberals and their leaders within the Democratic party.
Get rid of the Democratic party and you'll be a whole lot safer. Keep them in charge and expect more attacks like this going forward.
Just look at the narrative being cast about since the attack. Not only has is not gotten better, it's gotten worse! Thay simply dont get it and never will.
I doubt it. They failed to recognize that a person lived in Boston, who they were warned about by Russian intelligence, who had traveled to Chechnya within the last year. What is the reason for watch lists, if a person like this doesn't end up on a watch list?

Probably, you and your fellow liberal friends. Comparisons to movies and comic books does nothing to help the situation. We need to take these matters extremely seriously, not make terrorists out to be like comic book characters. And you call yourself a runner? A coach? You're neither!
They would have been caught but probably not in the short time it took.
This doesnt look like a situation where they were backed by a big group that could hide them or get them out of the country.
It does to me.

They could/should have
1. planned the attack in a different city than the one they live in
2. Disguised themselves a little better.
3. Not worn any of their own clothes for the job
They had days to get in, get out, etc. Transport was not shut down for a week. They could have easily have gone to...NYC, done the job, and then left on the greyhound.
