So I'm coming off of achilles problems and everyone and their mom told me to do eccentric heel drops. When I finally started doing them consistently I saw notable improvement (I can run almost as much and as fast as I was running pre-injury). I even feel better the same day when I do them, but I don't know if that's just a placebo effect.
I really don't like doing things blindly with regards to my training without really understanding what I'm doing, so I want to know why eccentric heel drops help. I've been pointed to several studies documenting that they do work, and that's nice, but I really want to know why. What exactly is it that I'm doing that's helping my achilles heal?
Thanks a bunch!
