HS times are pretty meaningless. You get the guys training 60+ mpw running 4:12 and the guys running 30mpw and running 4:12. You have guys that have been shaving since 12 years old and others that grow 3 inches senior year. By college that stuff all starts to even out (coaching is better and pretty much all the guys have hit physical maturity).

What did most top collegiate milers run in high school? Did they all break 4:10? It seems that based on ncaas, if you break 4 you're in contention to win. If you run 4:12 in high school, you should be ashamed of yourself if you aren't under 4 by junior year. So what did guys like O'Hare run, and what happens to all these 4:10 high schoolers?
