We often hear about schools dropping their track teams, esp Men's programs, like Maryland and UDel. I was wondering if any schools are actually adding track teams nowadays?

Unless they start carrying sticks with them.....doubtful.
Division III St. John Fisher in New York added xc and track last year
That doesn't really count as a team
Although they've long had mimimal xc teams, Chestnut Hill in Philly just added track for 2013-14. Long thought with their location could be better. Maybe now will be...
Sage College in upstate NY (Albany/Troy) added men's xc three years ago; women's xc last year and will add track for both in 2013-14.
Oregon State
Georgian Court University in Lakewood NJ men's program is starting next year. The school is going co-ed too since its been a women's college for many years. The women's track program is still pretty young being only five years old.
Plymouth State University is adding XC and Track I believe.

Plymouth State is only adding a XC team next year. Talks of a track program are for the far away future. A few years off at least, dependent on how recruiting for XC goes. Which might be tough way up in the middle of nowhere New Hampshire.
My team competed against Franklin Pierce University in the NE-10 this year (like Plymouth, they are also in NH). Franklin Pierce added a D2 men's and women's track program this year. It looks like they have done a pretty good job hauling in some decent recruits in every event for a 1st-year program. They showed up with a large team at some of the meets I was at this indoor season. Their women's XC team use to be a laughingstock. They still aren't great, but much improved with the addition of track. Their men's XC program could be serious contenders in the NE-10 next year with Lowell moving up to D1. Not too bad for what would then be the 2nd year of a new program. Time will tell.
Merrimack College added a men's track program about 3-4 years ago, too. Pace added one I believe...then cut it a year later (thank god, they were terrible). This has all been in JUST the NE-10 since I was a freshmen.
I read on the Virginia Mile Split site, in the discussion area; that there is a new Junior College program in Virginia at Richard Bland College.
It sounds as if, they have a solid academic reputation and a relationship with the College of William and Mary. They have Transfer Articulation Agreements with many of Virginia's better 4 year colleges. There is contact information on the posting.
