So I had a decent cross season (24:50 8K). I took about 5 days completely off before running 30 minutes a day for a week. Ran decent mileage for two weeks after that 40-50 (usual is 70-80). I had an indoor track race after those three weeks of running and ran the 5K unattached at a track out of state. I have never raced a 5K on the track before I'm a 800/mile type. I ran 14:48 and won. I took the lead with 600 to go and I was pretty spent. No easy task for me but I only had one real workout before that (hills). My mile PR last year was 4:07 and my 5K potential was about 15:10 in Febuary. Is running 4:03 realistic this year?
