They get literally the same quality of Florida recruits if not better caliber than those of FSU, and they failed to make it this year. What gives?

Pic's?
I really wonder this too. So many people seem to have come to UF and quit, fizzled out, gotten injured, or just not performed to the level I think they could.
Clark and Parrish made NCAA's which is good. But i think Clark at least could be running so much faster
Florida never puts any money in distance

florida state Men: how many are florida recruits? How many are actually american? UF has all florida highschool guys. If they paid foreigners they would be equal. FL state always bombs at nationals anyway so who cares.
Jakub Zivec 462 JR FL State
Breandan O’Neill 458 SR FL State
David Forrester 456 SR FL State
Wesley Rickman 460 SR FL State
Seth Proctor 459 SR FL State

Dude, they got fifth.
Let me give you some insight.
Univ. of Florida is the Univ. of Texas of Florida. It is a great school, great campus, great academics (competitive), and amazing facilities (only indoor track in state) and football team and culture.
That being said, it attracts the best of the best in Florida. The best of the best are not very disciplined, they are mega-talented.
As the coach I ended up signing with said, do you want to be a big fish in pond, a medium fish in a lake, or a guppy in the ocean? Florida is a ocean. You can drown in that ocean. You could be a 4:12/9:10 guy and with the recruits they get and demanding training, you could fall off the map and be forgotten. And once you're off the train, you fall into the cycle of partying on campus and there goes your career. I've seen it too much in my career.
Florida State attracts runners that aren't the best of the best (locally) but that are some of the most dedicated and hardest working. Couple that with some super-talented and committed foreigners, you get a great foundation and culture for success... thus yesterday's 5th place finish at NCAA DI XC Finals.
It takes a special runner to succeed at Florida, and they do have them every once in a while with the right combination, guys like Jeremy Criscione.
