As a Division 1 coach I have seen a new list of banned substances come out each year, each one more confusing than the last on if a drug is actually banned, or that the college can just not supply it. Usually they are random elements you find in every thing you are around each day that could not be regulated anyway.
LSU's Semoy Hackett tested positive for NCAA taking things too for Methylhexaneamine. For those of you that do not know it is in some nasal sprays! It was actually just added to the panned substance list recently.
There are drugs like steroids that give you an edge in your training, and then there are obvious stimulants someone may take to give them an edge like taking a shot of adrenalin before a race.
But then there is that big 'grey area' that is killing people because no one really knows what is expected.
Everyone knows that caffeine is listed as a banned substance, but that does not keep anyone from drinking it because it is in everything and rarely will ever show up in a test unless you drink like 10 cups of coffee right before your drug test.
I do not think someone should be labeled a drug cheat because they had a runny nose the morning of their race and did not think to check the banned substance list and compare that to the ingredients.
