Only a rumor at the moment but reports are they are moving conferences.
What does it mean for Maryland Men's track. Will they bring it back.
And could this be why Rutgers is bring in Gags to help coach ?

The track team hasn't folded yet.
Are there any Big Ten teams that DON'T have a track team?
I wonder if this (and the promise of higher football revenues) might actually be the thing that saves the track team.

It might take a few years. The buyout for MD to leave ACC is supposed to be $50 million. That could be spread out and just deducted from MD's TV revenue.
But the revenue difference per team between ACC and Big Ten is huge. Could be enough to save several sports. Ohio State fields a team in every NCAA sport (I think). Of course they also have more alumni than any university in the US and a big stadium that helps fill the athletic dept coffers.
Northwestern doesn't sponsor Track and Field in the Big Ten

I think not. No water polo or skiing.
Surely this is untrue. MD leaving the ACC?
If so, its a desperation move by Anderson to keep the whole mess afloat.
MD track, as I understand it, got a 1y reprieve but I'm not sure that will happen again. What a joke. What could a track team cost in hard $? Have all walkons if thats what it takes.
Money talks. Here's hoping this allows the Maryland kids to keep their chance to run in college.
The Maryland Chancellor does not believe the 50 million buyout is legal. Maryland and FSU were the only two schools to vote against it.
I grew up with the old ACC and loved it but since expansion it just isn't the same. Edsall has made Maryland football unwatchable. Maryland if offered enough will have to accept. Maryland sports right now is broke and they need money and it won't be coming from fans watching football anytime soon.
I can't see why this would be contemplated, other than, obviously, the allure of some tv or bowl contracts. I graduated from UMD in the 80s. We have always been a basketball, soccer, and lacrosse school. Track and field had a nice run for many years prior to when I was there (I know they were perennial ACC cahmps for a while), and of course we had Nehemiah just prior to my time. But football has always struggled, with the exception of a year or two here and there with Boomer Esiason and the Fridge had a nice year once.
Basketball, soccer, and lacrosse are ACC sports. Why would we leave that best-case scenario to get destroyed even worse in football, and step down a level in the other 3 superior sports. I don't know if they even compete in lacrosse in the Big Ten.
It has a women's cross country team (I know someone that just started for them this year and a better runner that will start next year), but they had no one competing in the Big Ten T&F Meet.
