If this is not a troll, basically he/she is saying they went around and introduced themselves to a bunch of exhausted, emotionally drained runners, and found that most of them weren't nice. I'd have been more than rude if it had been me. I'd have been outright hostile or dismissive. There are just some times in which a conversation with a stranger is the least appealing thing ever.
As to why the Kenyans are nicer, if this is true it's actually pretty interesting. It might come down to a very different perspective on why they're here. For a Kenyan runner from a poor area, a college degree and national recognition could honestly be lifelines to a large group of friends and family.
