"Who is Oregon recruiting for Cross Country this year?"
They may go after a kid who knows how to use "whom."
Does anyone know whether Elias Gedyon is on track to transfer from Lane CC to UO next year?
Yes, Gedyon is doing well at LCC (both in school and with his running). Will he decide to stay in Eugene to enroll at Oregon next year? Your guess is as good as mine. Oregon has an outstanding foreign xc runner on the team, but he was injured this fall. We can expect one highly regarding high school senior to sign a letter of intent for Oregon in February. So with Melancon, Gedyon, the foreign runner, the incoming freshman and Stinson to go along with a few improving freshmen, Oregon will be just fine next year.
What happened to Chad Noelle and Mac Afleet? And was there another kid from New Jersey in the same year as EG?
Is the foreign kid the son of Ovett?
Well the original poster was referring to the women's team having a lot of seniors at the top, and an amazing class at Oregon will graduate this year with Hasay, Anne Kesselring, Pappas, Penney, Becca Friday, Katie Conlon.
For the men, there are two freshman newcomers on the team in Richard Goodman from England, and Freddy Ovett from Australia. There has been talk that Edward Cheserek is possibly signing with Oregon for next year, but don't think its anything official yet.
No, the foreign XC runner is Goodman. He has very good potential. Ovett is a middle distance guy who will probably not run XC. Mac Fleet has had a chronic foot problem, but is finally well enough to have been Oregon's #6 guy today. Fleet, is not a natural xc runner...more like Ovett who will be 800/1500. For some reason, Chad Noelle did not run today. Parker Stinson had a very good season, until today. He must have had some kind of physical problem today because he was projected to be in the top 50. After losing Rupp, Centrowitz, Wheating and the triathlete, people thought Oregon would be off the map for a few years, but after one year of not making it to nationals, they are already moving back up the ladder and have a bright future.
"Moving back up?" "Have a bright future?" Are you joking?
The Ducks are dead! No recruited runner since Puskedra(sp?) has done well in XC. They only have some good mid-distance guys and most are not even preforming well in track for a top D1 program.
Anybody know what's up with Matt Jablonski? Dude was pretty legit in high school.
He is right, Oregon did move up quite a bit from last year. Even on an off day, they were at the championships this year and did finish #22. With a new recruit or two, Goodman, Gedyon, Stinson, Melancon and a solid group of Redshirt Freshmen on hand, they will be stronger yet in years to come. Don't worry about Oregon's future, they will be just fine.
