If you removed the non-Americans from the results and went back and re-scored the race, which team would win? Would any team even have five runners left?
Girma and Joseph are both American citizens.
Let me get this right..there are thousands of foreign students in US colleges and universities...some of them play sports, and this is an issue not because they compete, but because they win..am I right?
I'm willing to bet that the top 10 Africans in todays race have higher GPAs than most all-American NCAA Div 1 football/basketball players.
Here's why it's an issue. Both Oklahoma State and Wisconsin are state universities that state taxpayers support. This is quite different from a private university deciding to use its scholarship funds it whatever way they see fit. This is one reason why Wetmore does not accept foreign runners.

Oh Moskowitz is a red-blooded American from Washington, too.
Shouldn't state schools only accept in-state athletes, then? From the taxpayers' point of view the situation is exactly the same whether Colorado has African or New Jersey runners.

And thus, the state is free to place restrictions on who may receive a scholarship. The states of Oklahoma and Wisconsin have chosen not to do so.
make sure no Canadians are allowed on any College ice hockey teams either!!
Foreigners and over-age. Why are so many people here such whiners. There is a reason why guys like Rupp get to their level - by training with foreigners (Mo Farah), good coaching (Salazar), and not being upset when Chelanga beats him, as he now is a better runner because of it. Of course these same people were whining that it wasn't fair for him to compete either (Salazar influence). Funny in a so-called democratic country that such communist (no one is allowed to do anything different than anyone else) mindset exists.
I guarantee you that not one single penny of taxpayer money is involved in the scholarship dollars of any of these athletes. You have no idea what you are talking about but it surely won't stop you from spewing ignorance.

Uhh...Wisconsin?

Correct. I am watching a D-I game on the tube right now. No desire to name the universities, but it's very clear that these players are only pretending to be student-athletes. A complete sham.
No, because of federal aid, which comes from taxpayers.

Why you can't simply disagree with what I said and provide evidence that I'm mistaken rather than declaiming that I'm "spewing nonsense" is beyond me. Nevertheless, I've been a university professor for over twenty-five years and it's at least possible I'm better positioned than you are to know exactly how university financial aid works. I don't teach, however, at Wisconsin, but I'd be amazed if Mo Ahmed is not on an athletic scholarship, which is drawn from federal and/or state tax dollars.

This.
Their top runner, Ahmed, is from Canada.
I am constantly amazed at how people on here love the domination of xc by foreign imported talent. Its not good for the sport.

Well duh, but their other 6 are all good old Americans. Just pointing out that that post is rather exaggerated and ill-informed. And probably a troll like every other "DAMN FOREIGNERS!!!" post.

It is great for the sport. It increases the quality. One of the reasons that the best soccer teams in the world are from England, Spain, and Italy is that their athletes play in the best leagues with many imports.
Nope. We're cutting the legs out from under ourselves. Every foreign runner is an American kid that didn't get to move on to the next level. We cut them off at HS never seeing what they could develop into as an adult runner.
The East African domination of distance running (and I mean complete) is one of the worst things thts happened to our sport. Sorry but it's not good to have nameless faceless Kenyans dominate.
The american public doesnt really care about distance running, they care even less when the Americans have a 1/1000 chance of even placing well.
