the fact that shes already an olympian?
So, if she'd been running 15:40 and had been an Olympian from some country with weaker standards Nike would have signed her? How about the fact that she was a multi-time NCAA champ in track, indoor and out, and X-C? She got what any post-collegian of her calibre from the U.S., or anywhere else, would have gotten (had they been interested in living and training in the U.S.). Just as with Levins and Bairu, she got what she got based on her accomplishments in the NCAA. I'd be willing to bet that being Canadian probably mean eff-all to Nike. And anyone who has spent any time in Canada would know that the Canadian running shoe market means very, very little to Nike. You might as well be talking about the "Metropolitan New York Market", minus the density.
I reckon New Balance got it right putting there money into the van Dalen twins. Lucy has better pb than pretty much all of Reids. Also people close to them say Holly is the more talented of the two, just had some badly timed injuries during college. Also the twin factor.

You all so under estimate Kosinski. She'll be running 15:10's in a years time and be well under 15 by next Olympics.
If she isn't running 14:40 by now she never will.

Yeah, like Molly Huddle. Oh wait, her PR was 15:17 until she was 25.
Better example: Julie Culley.
Kosinski,Wilson,Reid or Cain who has the best chance of winning a medal at a major championship?
Reid, because Reid has the best chance of MAKING a major championship.
I wouldn't say she's gorgeous.
Nothing big about this, just some positive press for Nike. She'll never be truly competitive, and a $30,000 endorsement is less than pocket change.
Sheila Reid has incredibly nice teeth.
Actually, Sheila Reid has incredible potential. She has one God -given talent that can't be learned- she knows how to win. Her winning percentage is huge in races where there are several others with similar talent.
Her over-all talent is still building and I think she can run 4:02-4:04 easily this year, which in a non drugged field is fast enough to medal at worlds just like Jenny simpson.

+1 : if a runner has been winning races consistently at her level, you invest in her. Reid won it all in the NCAA level, has a great attitude, is good looking, and is media friendly. Easy decision for nike. I thought NB would want her more, but who knows.
