Must have been 6k. Those times jive with 6k.
My first thought was "triathlon course?"
Sub 4 mile pace for a distance over 2 miles. Finally. It was gonna happen some day.
Sound like they are an early favorite for Nats!
Lead vehicle took a wrong turn and cut off a loop. No exact distance.
Sponsored by Kip Litton and Paul Ryan.
Smashed the previous course record by 6 minutes!!!

So why not say so in the article!
The Lobos had to REST some of their runners? It was the FIRST FREAKING MEET of the year.
I once ran a 15:15 "5k". Amazing race since I never otherwise broke 16, or even threatened it really.
Running under the lights -- probably not the schools standard course, and since 8k is what is usually run, it might have been listed that way. It might not even be an 'integer' Km course.
As for mismeasured, I ran a 10, first warm race of the spring, unfortunately, and around the time I was at what I felt I would be at 9km (+/- 400m) the finishing area was nowhere near (we were going around several small lakes several times. Five minutes later, we were still so far from the finish that there was no indication where it was. The winning time was above 35 minutes and this is a southern Cal race with at least several 30-min guys racing. I finished in a bit over 41-42 min (it was 40 years ago) I think and around 12 km. Boy, a lot of people were dying those last 5-10 minutes, with no idea of how much more to run.
Isn't the Wendy's course short?
Doping!
Whatever track the women's 1500m world record was run on.
SUPER BUMP!!!
I once ran 26 minutes in a 6 mile race organised by the local fire brigade. Afterwards I asked them by what method did they measure the course. On the fire trucks odometer.
