Sorry, I wasn't clear.
I know how to train; it's not that I need "secrets" about base phase, nor was I looking for anything remotely like "the Secret," to whomever said that.
I simply was hoping for what the film was advertised as:
an account of a summer of elite/near elite young men training in relative solitude. the idea, as advertised, was to portray how they, too, are normal runners like the rest of yes.
sure, i guess you could argue that was achieved by lame split screen shots of them making fun of each other, which might've been entertaining were they included with real content. but here's the thing: it was advertised as an account of a summer, with runners training in solitude. we got to watch, what, two runs? We saw Chris Derrick in an airport. And a tree shot from low angles with electronic devices in it. There is nothing "Once A Runner"-y about that, and Van Ingen himself said that was his inspiration.
So inspire. Don't make some masturbatory film about yourself with zero content.
I'm not looking to learn how to train, but it might be nice to actual see a slice of life, like most documentaries. As it was, it was 45 minutes of nothing.
I don't think that's too much to ask. And it's not asking for weird-ass robed jerkoffs talking about positive mental attitude w/ Oprah's blessing, no I'm not sure where this "the Secret" bullsh*t is coming from.
Tell me, what about The Real Maine would be worth donating money for? It was like watching college freshman film projects. Congrats on being a hipster Erik. So cool. So edgy.
