Will Claye has a better chance to medal in both his events than Rupp does too.

Did Rupp and Lagat close faster than all of the 1500 guys? From what I have been reading, they did. Does this mean they would probably both have qualified had they run the 1500 too?
Lagat should have jumped in the 10k as well. It would have increased our medal hopes significantly.
Flannigan is doing Marathon and 10k double? I thought she used 10k as training run and is not running it in London

There are others who also could have qualified in more than one event if they made the attempt: Lagat and Ritz come to mind...
Not to take anything away from Rupp, but sometimes a runner's decision to forego an event does not mean they were not good enough.
But I also think it's impressive that Rupp won both the 5 and 10. Lagat wasn't doing his typical 15-5k double and still got beaten by Galen.
And actually, Ritz? Ritz wouldn't have beaten any of the top three (top four even) in the 5k. First of all, he didn't make the Marathon team... So what was he going to qualify in other than the 10k. I think you're overestimating his fitness- Teg would be a much better shot than Ritz in the 5k-10k double. He was ultra-conservative in the 10k and still didn't appear to have too much trouble beating Ritz.

You could be right, but i would not have been surprised to see Ritz take 4th. He did go 13:14 in May, then did a solo 13:19/13:58 double in early June, and did his 27:36 10k losing to only Rupp and Teg. I would bet on him over Bumbi, but not by a lot. Then there's the fact Ritz thinks he's in 12:56 shape again (or better). I think he might be a bit ahead of himself, but if he's even 10 seconds slower than that, he's in better shape than Bumbi.

This is letsrun, not letsjumpandthrowthings, if people cared there would be as many threads about whoever that is as there about Rupp.
