For some reason I am always disappointed when sprint-heavy schools win NCAAs instead of distance based teams. Maybe it's the stereotype of sprinters being abrasive, cocky, loud mouthed, not as good student athletes, etc. and the stereotype of distance runners being modest, quiet, XC teams with really high GPAs, you get the idea. I'm probably somewhat biased; my daughter ran track casually and did just about every event, so I have no particular bias there, but most of her good friends on the team were distance runners. As an outside observer who has never really participated (I just kind of 'lurk' on these boards usually) and just follow the sport because I enjoy it, I tend to like it when the brainiac teams do well and the 'jock schools' get beat at their own game. I began following XC, and tended to root for Stanford over Ok. State and Oregon, for example. Does anyone else feel this way? I know it's completely silly, and I feel bad for feeling that way, but I'm curious if anyone else thinks like this.
