If Levins had shown up he would have thrown down a 55s last 400 and passed Wheating as if he was standing still.

I'm pretty sure Dunbar was supposed to be pacing, too, but he did a really crappy job of it throwing in a 63/64. Oh, well. Good win for Wheating and a confidence booster that he's over or on his way to being over his injury.

this is what's wrong the sport. there is no context of what the pace or competition was like.
let me repeat: IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT THE TIMES.
so can someone tell us what the pace was like? I can tell you that when i watched cabral of princeton run 'only' 343 at princeton the week before peen after a 47-8 opening 300, i immmediately thought, 'my god that guy looked incredible. can anyone beat him at penn?"'
he barely beat ulrey. You do realize ulrey is an inconsisten 335.23 guy.
what ulrey did he barely beat? the 3:35 one from 2009 - well that's great. the 3:47 one from 2010 - well then that's not so great.
it was ulrey's opener.
You are calling Ulrey inconsistent?? Really, lets some this up:
2009-
Runs 3:57i
3:35 Outdoors, makes the World Team
Then comes back to run 6th at NC's in Cross (That means only 5 people ran faster than him that day, just thought I'd help you out a bit.)
2010
Runs Great XC, Only 11th place at NCAA's, Beats a lot of great athletes you praise on the boards.
Indoors- Runs 3:57, gets caught by Wheating at the line in the DMR, and comes back to win the 3k at NC's
Redshirts Outdoors and hops in a race at New York runs 3:47 (Which I'm guessing you're basing the whole inconsistent thing off of?)
2011
Redshirts Indoors
Comes back slow at first Outdoors then by Conference. You know where he won by 2.3 Seconds in the 1500, and came back to beat the defending Indoor Champ in the 800, and if that wasn't enough ran for 4th in the 5k...sounds familiar right?
http://www.letsrun.com/2011/week-0519.php,Finishesjust 2nd to Centro, who later was 3rd at worlds, finishes 7th at USA's and runs 3:37 before pulling up with a hip injury..
So thats only the last three years but I'm sure you get the point. You are basing his inconsistency off of one 1500 that wasn't even relevant at the time? This is why people hate your message board, you are quick to praise an athlete when they are on top and even faster to put them down when they aren't. If I recall right you here at Letsrun picked Ulrey to win the 1500 at NC's after his great triple at SEC's, Centro ended up winning. But before he won Centro wasn't shiit to you'll, in your eyes he was just another good runner. Then you hopped on the Centro train all the way to worlds, which is fine. But afterwards you say stuff like this after being on the Ulrey train for a few years and now you're just done with him like a used whore...
So the last few years I've seen the staff here at letsrun say one thing on their front page and turn around and insult runners like this, don't get me wrong I'm not on Ulrey's dick or anything, I'm just making a point. I've seen you do this with multiple athletes, from Jager, Webb, Fernandez, Rupp, Ritz, Lawi the list goes on and on... So when people talk about your website and say its garbage, don't get mad because they're only stating the facts. I was standing there after Rupp broke the 2 Mile Record indoors, and the only thing you here at Letsrun had to say to him was, "You're 5k record was broken.." Just another reason why people think you are pure garbage...
Everything everyone who has run on Hayward has said about the backstretch is true. It was once my home track.
It looked like Wheating was laboring a bit on the third lap
(again, the backstretch wind may have be a factor) but he seemed confident on the final lap.
Haven't checked the replay, but it seems he stepped off with about 600 to go in the 3000. It would have been interesting to see him finish as he appeared comfortable at the time.
More than anything else, the evening likely gave Wheating confidence in the hamstring. Having gone through a similar situation, I suggest that is far more important than a fast time at this point.
Are you seriously comparing STANFORD to another meet. My god, it's on a new page. Stanford has perfect weather. You can't compare the two. 5 seconds in a 1500 your insane. They had pacers, your acting as though 10mph winds affect time in a big way. Plus your not facing the wind 100% of the time...
Stanford weather is perfect, your throwing out ridiculous numbers here.
That funny feeling in your foot is the bullet you just put into it (again).

Granted, Wheating looked smooth and won, BUT if Webb had won the same race in 3:44 everyone would be screaming "done", "washed up"... "hair piece"
Confusing.
LOL, take it easy Mrs. Ulrey.
"You play...to win...the game"
correct me if I'm wrong, but doesnt wheating already have both the trials A standard and the Oly A standard? I thought times run after some time in March or April of last year counted towards this year? And he ran 3:34 in Paris (?) so he's all set.
if thats the case, Wheating has nothing to worry about other than being in shape to qualify, he's already got the times down that he needs.

The date is May 1st of 2011
Your the one who compared times for this week to last week at stanford... did you not?
Wheating beating Ulrey tells us nothing right now.
Wheating running 3:44 tells us nothing right now.
If Wheating had run a fast time, it would have told us something.
So yeah, winning races is better blah blah blah, but in a race like that only a time would have given us any useful information.
A win is a win. Can't argue with that. I'm pretty sure either of these guys would be more than happy winning the trials, or finishing second for that matter, in 4 minutes.
Random observation. I wonder how Nike feels about the Adidas Wheating was wearing in the race. A bit of a slap in the face if you ask me.
please prove he was wearing adidas.

No, those are Nikes.
You're not talking about the guy on the right in the bright red shoes with 3 stripes on the sides are you? Zoom in a bit maybe. Or are you just trying to cover for him?

Okay, I'll spell it out for you. Those shoes have four "stripes," not three. And they're not stripes; look at them from the side sometime. Also, how stupid do you think Wheating is? adidas spikes while wearing a Nike uniform, in Eugene, at Hayward, in the Oregon Twilight meet, in his season debut? Trust me, those are Nikes.
Aren't they the new Zoom Victory? Not Adidas.
