Runnerspace will probably have video, and maybe Flotrack since they seem to love Andrew Wheating.
Yeah you tell 'em! How dare those people at Flotrack like one of the athletes they cover on a regular basis!
he won the race? he opens up in 344 yeah not fast but i think if he was in a faster race he could have opened up closer to 340 if not under so

What are you mad about, bro?
Windy meet. Women were at least 5 seconds slow.
no.
Considering he ran a 10k last Sunday very impressive.
A shame he is in no man's land for the Olympics. I wouldn't chalk him in as a favorite if he were an American even as a 27:08 guy but he would be a contender nonetheless. Obviously those back in Nairobi wouldn't be sweating too much. Was he even in the cut for 10k pre-trials?

this is what's wrong the sport. there is no context of what the pace or competition was like.
let me repeat: IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT THE TIMES.
so can someone tell us what the pace was like? I can tell you that when i watched cabral of princeton run 'only' 343 at princeton the week before peen after a 47-8 opening 300, i immmediately thought, 'my god that guy looked incredible. can anyone beat him at penn?"'
he barely beat ulrey. You do realize ulrey is an inconsisten 335.23 guy.
what ulrey did he barely beat? the 3:35 one from 2009 - well that's great. the 3:47 one from 2010 - well then that's not so great.
it was ulrey's opener.

Actually, this is what's wrong with your message board.
Rojo--
Agreed (though the video is right there in the link).
Russell Brown did pacing duties through 800, taking them through in 1.57.8 with Wheating just a few ticks off of that. From there it was Wheating in the lead until 1100, when Ulrey took over to bring them through 1200 in 3.01. The pack was closely bunched off of those two, but spreading out at 200 to go, when Wheating reclaimed the lead from Ulrey. Wheating put about a meter's lead on Ulrey, but Ulrey put on a bit of a fight across the last 100. At one point, Ulrey seemed to be gaining enough on Wheating to take the lead, but Wheating held him off.
I'm ambivalent about this performance. Wheating won, which is great, but he was far from spectacular; no one, though, looked that great. The whole race had a slow motion feel to it, and the final 300 meters were strangely labored for everyone.
Hopefully, though, this lets Wheating put some of his injury concerns behind him.

Perhaps I should have left off the barely beat Ulrey comment. I like many of us cannot wait to have the Wheating back that ran a 3:30 and 1:44. I guess when you put it in perspective, coming back from injury with a season-opener of 3:44 to win a race has got to be promising

Rojo, take a look at the calendar. It is SEVEN WEEKS to the Olympic Trials.
At this point, it IS all about the times.
The question is not which Ulrey did he beat. The question is which Wheating won. How close to Wheating's present capabilities were on display?
Off present results, Alan Webb has a USATF A qualifier and about 3 seconds to go to meet the IAAF A. Wheating has a lot more than that to go and not a lot of time to get there.

Didn't you rag on the times from the men's Big East 10k yesterday?
Runnerspace's results also have Wheating as DNF in the 3000. Anyone know how much pacing he did?
That 3rd lap was slow...63 point. Last 800 was 2:01, and Wheating's final 200 was 27ish.
