Thank you for the replies everyone, this is very encouraging. Umm, I'll try to provide some more background information. Just to show the trend of improvement:
Freshman PRs:
800-2:09
1600-5:06
Sophomore PRs:
200-26.xx
400-58.xx
800-2:02
1600-4:31 (Outdoor) 4:41 (Indoor)
3200-10:13 (Outdoor)
5000-17:19 (XC)
Junior PRs: Indoor Only (we are yet to run an Outdoor meet as it is early in the year, but I'm hoping to see continued improvement)
200-25.xx
400-55.xx
800-1:59
1600-4:28
3200-10:13
5000-16:20
The 1600 is my favorite event, although I enjoy the aspect of the team unity in XC. Given the choice I prefer the 800/1600 double over the 1600/3200 double.
Other possibly important facts or tidbits, I am a Junior as stated earlier. My GPA is approx. 4.2 now. Class rank is Top 15 out of about 650 kids. I've competed at the State level in Track and XC this year, but I haven't run at either Footlocker or NXN Regionals for XC.
Couple questions. Should I consider running FL or NXN next year? My goals, (and I know these are all hypothetical, but I'm interested to see where these would put me) are 1:56, 4:22 and 15:50 in the 5K before graduation. I don't generally run the 3200, but if I were to run it right now I think I could run in the upper 9:40s. Assuming I am able to achieve these goals, how limited would my options be? What sort of scholarship opportunities would be available?
The reason I've had all these questions is because I received my first college letter today. Harvard sent me a letter asking for my transcript and it got me wondering what sort of future I could have in running. Also, what should I interpret this letter as? Does this mean they could be seriously interested?
Again, thank you all for the help.
