Good decision. Foolish to even be considering it.
Right and he has a lot of work to do just to get his A standards out of the way on the track. It will be interesting how he and the mad scientist Alberto proceed.
didn't all the analogies but rather
"need more time to recover" would have been plenty
I always kinda figured XC was Ritz's thing, but I guess we won't be seeing that this year.
Why scratch the nuts when you can just do the ol' Pinch 'n' Pull?
The best runners in the world compete in cross country every year.
If he wants to get even close to medal contention in track he needs to get on the same page as Rupp and Farah in training. He's probably way behind them in speedwork.
Hopefully Solinsky, Teg, and Bumby are also training well together in the Schumacher camp. If so, we'll be putting together a dream team at 5k/10k with Rupp, Ritz, Teg, Solinsky, Bumby, and Lagat. Those 6 should have those spots. That is the country's best chance at a medal.
Ritz scratches nutz????
That's what I was thinking! lol.

Yep. If you watch his 5000 AR run, he does the sign of the cross afterwards. I'm assuming he's Catholic, but perhaps Episcopalian? I could probably look it up, but I'm not that interested in other people's religious practices.
I don't know that you could "look this up" unless there is a website that catalogs all athlete's religions.
Reading the blog, he is Catholic. Catholics have Mass and a priest. Episcopalians have Church and a Rector.
Perhaps but the us nationals is a non-event this year with no worlds to follow. Ritz had nothing to gain by running, win by two minutes...big deal....lose to a b list national class runner and his confidence drops even more. He needs to fully recover, train hard and then come out with guns a blazing.
What are you talking about? Of COURSE I can look this up.Step 1 - Go to www.google.comStep 2 - Enter "Dathan Ritzenhein catholic"Step 3 - Begin reading all the returns, several of which describe him as a "devout Catholic" including of course his own blog which you mentioned. If Step 2 didn't pan out, there are other like searches that could be done to determine if his religious beliefs are a topic.

Episcopalians and Catholics both have priests. Rector in the Episcopal Church is a position (head of a self-supporting parish church) - some Episcopal priests are rectors and some aren't. Some (but not most) Episcopal churches call their communion service mass.
Catholics also have rectors and churches. A Catholic rector usually is the head of a seminary or a religious order; most parish priests in the Catholic church are called pastors.
Anyhow, Ritz is Catholic.
