Forgive me if this has been covered (and obviously it has become the norm), but where the hell is Hall these days? After XC I was really looking forward to him setting the track on fire this outdoor season. I didn't seehim on the entry list at Nats.

According to posts on here, he decided to base-build during indoors and then got injured sometime during outdoors. He seems to be a super hard worker, but he'll go into his senior year w/o ever making an NCAA track championship. If he has better than B-level pro talent, than I'm missing it.
yeah, i guy who finishes a few seconds behind ritz at 10K clearly can't have anything more than B-level talent. perhaps you should get your head out of your ass and then you won't miss it.

Maybe you should finish that by saying that Ritz was FAR from prime in that race and coming off little running after months of inactivity.
Your reply is pure genius!!
I very often like the substance of your comments on a variety of threads, but why must you couch them in such needless vulgarities? What you take for incorrect judgment--whether rightly or wrongly--does not provide an excuse for your ill treatment of others. If I'm missing something here--perhaps it's all just good natured banter--than I'm sorry.

Hall is a great runner, but one race doesn't make you a can't miss talent. He has to me, only had one race in college that is can't miss worthy, and that is not enough to make him an A talent athlete.
Hall has struggled as an ncaa runner, however after his 2nd place showing at the ncaas I feel he has demonstrated that he has more potential than just becoming a b level talent unless you are reffering to B standard Olympic times this year. After a solid cross it seemed he was heading to 13:25-13:30 5k times this spring. I believe he ran some where in the 13:40s at Mt. Sac.I also believe he would have had a breakthrough 1500 if he would have stayed healthy.I would look for him to have a great next season if healthy. Many on this board wrote Webb off, dont write Hall off just yet.
I agree. It brings the level of discussion down to the junior high level which I find disgusting.

So, he's probably not going to better than Bekele, El G or Tergat. Can't people still get excited about runners who won't break world records or win Olympic gold? Do you get excited about your own running ever?

it's often good-natured banter; i think in this case it might have had a bit more of an edge to it because ttc seems to often have rather groundless opinions (as some on this thread alluded to). ttc said in his post "If he has better than B-level pro talent, than I'm missing it." i thought (apparently incorrectly) that it would be clever to suggest that having one's head in one's ass might cause one to miss something like hall's xc season which culminated in a second place finish at the championship. i didn't realize that i used needless vulgarities often. i'll look into it.
He is a talent cross country runner who pushed Ritz. However, on the track he has never broken 3:41 for the 1500. On the track he is a B talent.
maybe the problem then is that stanford (or he himself) insists on running the 1500.
B talent?
Didnt this kid almost break 4 in high school by a fraction of a second?
Hall was/is in an unfortunate situation where he was in the same year of two phenoms, and has really been unable to show off his chops yet on the track. Eventually he'll get his chance and surprise everyone and make everyone feel stupid for calling him b talent. you dont almost win the ncaa xc champs, and have that be considered a fluke.
Since he does not even have the Olymic B standard for the 1500 he is definitely a talented B talent. There are a dozen runners with Ryans talent in the NCAA, and there are runners like Cragg and Ritz who are at a whole another level.
However, we could sure use Ryan at Rutgers.
I, for one, like the vulgarity. Language is the spice of life.
well, you can't please all of the people all of the time.
Hall is a nice kid with amazing natural talent. Natural talent does not a champion make. Something is not quite right.
I think Ryan will have dropped a sub 2:12 by the time '08 rolls around. Extremely fluid stride is nicely suited for the thon.
who's to say ritz didn't run great at xc? just cause he took some time off? heck he ran worse at indoors after months of good training. anyway, you are indeed a dumbf***. hall beat lots of major studs.
