There are many athletes making well over 150k USD and many more than that list reports making 250k. Virtually any gold medalist would have gotten between a 150-250k bonus from their shoe contract that would then roll into their contract the following years. Example...IF Christian Taylor's base was 100k, then he won't gold...got a 250k bonus + rollover...this year he makes 350k base...the 100k and 250k bonus were last year. This doesn't count his prize money for WC gold and any other meets. Diamond League meets pay 10k for 1st and shoe companies usually match it. Now if he goes to London and wins gold, he would be well over 500k++ in BASE salary. That is just a figure I came up with, but bonus/roll-over is pretty standard for major shoe companies for the best athletes. I would assume that Jason Richardson, Kirani James, Will Clay all fall into the same arena. Their original base probably wasn't over 150k, but they won medals and now will get paid. The real money is made by winning a string of medals, like DIx and Bolt have done...like Tyson did. One shot wonders can make some change, but won't get rich. Reductions can kick in if athletes don't make teams and hold certain rankings. Nike is famous for being brutal/cut-throat on reductions. Does that make sense? You would be shocked at how much money some athletes get that never make a team or even approach a WC or OG final. How much money was wasted on men's 1500m runners this year?
I made $7500 from Nike last year... and was on National and International TV more times than 50% of Nike athletes.

W Dix - £1m - £1.3m Nike = $2.0 million
A Felix - £640,000 Nike = $1 million
There's just no way that Nike is paying Walter Dix more than Allyson Felix.

why does Dix get more than Tyson wtf?
Answer: he doesn't.
Dix signed his contract right after he won NCAA's and then double medaled in Beijing. That's probably why it's so high.
Also, remember he didn't run for half the season in 2009 because of a legal dispute where Nike was trying to get out of paying his full contract. They probably realized he wasn't worth as much as they were paying him.
None the quoted figures are based on facts , its pure speculation.
Im still waiting to see an athlete show his or her contract for all to see the real numbers.
Agents lie about what the athletes get paid as to keep the value high.
Strip out bonus potential and the base stipend is much smaller.
Whole value is important to understand as well , are the amounts the term of the contract or for one year ?
Tits - It's none of your concern, no scam involved. Are you a jealous little bitch? Sounds like it. Don't
worry about how much he makes and you'll sleep better. I promise.
Oh here we go, the board's defender of women, blacks, the elderly, and now the sort of disabled. Isn't it ironic how libs like you can spew such hate to those with different opinions? All in the name of tolerance! LMAO!
What about Dean K?

The dispute wasn't between Nike and Dix, but Dix and his agent. The link below has more. Note also the story in the link put's Dix's contract with Nike at about $1 million a year.
